Recognition of the strategic commitment to training and strengthening the workforce of the Greek shipbuilding industry.
The ONEX Shipyards and Technologies Group was honored with the Upskilling Champion award at the “DYPA Business Partners Awards 2025” event held yesterday at the Benaki Museum. The award confirms the Group’s active role in shaping the next generation of technicians in the Greek shipbuilding industry.
This recognition stems from the implementation of the cooperation program with the Public Employment Service (PES), which in the summer of 2025 led to the hiring of 15 graduates of the EPAS Apprenticeship Program at the Elefsina Shipyards. The program is continuing for a second year at the Syros Shipyards, with an expanded scope and new specializations.
The award ceremony was attended by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Ms. Niki Kerameos, the Deputy Minister, Mr. Kostas Karagounis, the Deputy Regional Governor for Entrepreneurship and European Planning of the Attica Region and President of the Hellenic Network for Corporate Social Responsibility, Ms. Alexandra Palli, the Director of DYPA, Ms. Gianna Chormova, as well as executives from partner companies.
Accepting the award on behalf of the ONEX Group, Vice Chairman Mr. Ioannis Stamatopoulos stated: “Our collaboration with DYPA demonstrates that when the public and private sectors work together with a shared vision, the Greek shipbuilding industry gains a promising future. For us, every new job is an investment in preserving and advancing our technical expertise. Shipyards are defined by their people—we invest in them every day. We thank DYPA for its collaboration and contribution to shaping the new generation of craftsmen. This award belongs to them.”
